How to Change Wi-Fi name or password of Verizon Router

Here you can get information about How to Change Wi-Fi name or password of Verizon Router. You can change your Wi-Fi name (SSID) or password (WPA2/WEP key) at any time. After you apply the changes, be sure to reconnect any Wi-Fi device with the same customized Wi-Fi network name and password.

Verizon has a variety of tools to change your Wi-Fi credentials:

  • My Verizon
  • My Fios app
  • Router label

Change Wi-Fi name or password using My Fios app

  • If you have a Fios Quantum Gateway or a Verizon Fios Advanced router, using the My Fios app select:
    • Internet > under My Networks select a network > select Edit to make changes > enter your new credentials.
  • If your Wi-Fi access is disabled, you will need to select Enable Private Wi-Fi Access.

Note: If you have separate Wi-Fi names for your 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks and you change your password, reconnect any Wi-Fi device in use. The password is always the same for both networks.

Change Wi-Fi name or password using My Verizon

  • If you have a Fios Quantum Gateway or a Verizon Fios Advanced router, login to My Verizon to change Wi-Fi name or password. To make a change:
    • hover over Services, select Internet > under My Network, select a network to Manage > enter your new credentials and Save Changes
  • If your Wi-Fi access is disabled, you will need to Enable Wi-Fi Access in the popup where you can manage your network.

Note: If you have separate Wi-Fi names for your 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks and you change your password, reconnect any Wi-Fi device in use. The default password is the same for both networks.

Change Wi-Fi name or password in your router manually

If you don’t have a Fios Quantum Gateway or a Verizon Fios Advanced router, you can change the Wi-Fi name or password in your router manually. To make a change:

  • Open your browser and enter 192.168.1.1
  • Sign in with your router username and password
  • Router name is admin. You can find the default router password on your router label
  • If you changed your router password and don’t remember it, you will need to reset your router to factory default settings
  • Learn how to reset your router
  • Follow the onscreen directions or your router user guide to change your Wi-Fi network name or password

How to reset your router to restore factory default settings

To reset your router:

  • Locate the Reset button on the back of your router
  • With the router powered on, use the pointed end of a paperclip or similar object to press and hold the Reset button for 15 seconds
  • Wait for the router to fully reset and power back on

The router’s default factory settings have been restored. Reconfigure your router and update your Wi-Fi devices to use the same customized Wi-Fi settings. You can also log into your router to restore factory settings.
