Change Your Wi-Fi Network Name and Password

On Spectrum.net

If you have Spectrum Wi-Fi equipment that you received in 2013 or later, you can find your network name and password on Spectrum.net.

To view your Wi-Fi network name and password online:

  • Sign in with your Spectrum username and password.
    • Note: If you don’t have a Spectrum online account, you can create a username.
  • In the Services section, select Internet.
  • For your gateway or router, select the blue down arrow to view more information. Your Wi-Fi network’s name (SSID) and password are displayed.

In the My Spectrum App

Using the My Spectrum app, you can find the network name and password for your Wi-Fi network (if you subscribe to in-home Wi-Fi). You can also change your network name or password if you want to.

To find or change your Wi-Fi network name and password:

  • Open the My Spectrum app on your smartphone or tablet and sign in to your Spectrum online account, if necessary.
    • Note: If you don’t have a Spectrum online account, you can create a username.
  • Select Services. Your network name and password are displayed.
  • If you want to change either your network name or password, select Update.
  • Enter a new network name, password or both.
  • Select Save Changes.

Find Your WiFi Network Name and Password

On Your Router or Gateway Label

If you never changed your default network name and password, they might be on a label on the bottom of your router or gateway.

The information may also be recorded in your installation paperwork.

On Windows 8.1

If your Windows 8 computer is connected to your WiFi network, you can find your WiFi info on your computer.

To find your WiFi network name and password:

  • Make sure you’re connected to your WiFi network.
  • Open the Windows/Start menu.
  • In the search field, enter and select Network and Sharing Center.
  • Select Manage Wireless Networks. Network names are displayed.
  • Right-click your connected WiFi network, and then select Properties.
  • Select the Security tab.
  • Select Show characters. Your password is displayed in the Network security key field.

On Windows 10

If your Windows 10 computer is connected to your WiFi network, you can find your WiFi info on your computer.

To find your WiFi network name and password:

  • Make sure you’re connected to your WiFi network.
  • In the taskbar, right-click the WiFi icon, and then select Open Network and Sharing Center.
  • Next to Connections, select your WiFi network name.
  • Select Wireless Properties.
  • Select the Security tab.
  • Select Show Characters. Your password is displayed in the Network Security Key field.

On Your Mac

To find your WiFi password, you’ll need the username and password for an account with administrator privileges on your Mac.

To find your WiFi network name and password:

  • Open the Keychain Access app. You can search for it or go to Applications and select Utilities.
  • Double-click your WiFi network name.
  • Select Show password.
  • Enter your Mac’s Username and Password, and then select Allow. Your password is displayed in the Show password field.
