How To Reset The Password For A Comcast Business Router

In this post, you can easily know about How To Reset The Password For A Comcast Business Router. The model number for the Cisco router was DPC3941B (the model number is on the bottom of the router).

We needed to reset the password on a Cisco router provided by Comcast for Internet service for a local business, since We needed to update firewall rules in the router, but when We tried what I thought was the password it didn’t work. To reset the password, We followed the below procedure.

Resetting the password for a Comcast Business Router

  • Unbend an end of a paper clip and put it in the Reset hole, which is on the back of the router near the top of the router. Hold it in place for about 20 seconds. You may need to wait several minutes for the router to reset, but if you have a device plugged into the router that is configured to receive its IP information by DHCP, it should receive an address in the 10.1.10.x range, e.g., 10.1.10.250, after the router has rebooted.
  • You should then be able to open a browser and go to http://10.1.10.1 and get the login page for the router.
Comcast Admin Tool
  • Use cusadmin for the username and highspeed for the password. Note: I’ve seen Can’t Touch This listed on some websites as a possible alternative password.
  • You will then see an “Are You Sure? Window, stating “There are 10 remaining login attempts for remind me later option; after 10 attempts, you will be required to change your password.” Click on OK to change the password.

  • You will be asked to retype the old password and to provide a new password. The new password must be a minimum of 8 characters with only alphanumeric characters allowed, i.e., only letters and numbers with no spaces between characters. The letters are case-sensitive, i.e., if you enter an uppercase letter “A” here, a lowercase “a” won’t match. When you have entered the passwords, click on the Save button to save the new password.
Comcast Change Password
  • Once you’ve changed the password, you will then be asked to log in again using the new password.

How to Change subnet for Comcast Business Router

  • To change the subnet configuration on a Comcast Business Router (Cisco model number DPC3941B), log into the router. The default subnet used by the router is 10.1.10.0/24 with the router’s IP address being 10.1.10.1 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0.
  • So, if the default configuration for the router has not been changed, you can log into the router by connecting a device to it that will get its IP address by DHCP and then pointing a browser to http://10.1.10.1. When you are logged into the router, you will see a window labeled “Gateway > At a Glance,” which is a selection under “Gateway” in the selection list on the left side of the main window.
Comcast Gateway
  • Click on “Initial Setup” on the left side of that window to configure the Local Area Network (LAN) Internet Protocol (IP) information that will be used by the router.

  • When you are finished making configuration changes, click on the Save Settings button. You will then see a “Are you sure?” window advising you that “Changing Gateway IP or any DHCP setting would reset the gateway.” You will also see “WARNING: Gateway will be rebooted! Incoming/Outgoing call and internet connection will be interrupted!” Click on the OK button.
