How To Factory Reset Roku TV Without Remote

In this post, you can know about How To Factory Reset Roku TV Without Remote easily. To reset Roku TV without a remote, locate the reset button on the back of the TV, press it to start factory reset, or use the Roku Remote App.

However, when the Roku TV froze, and my mother wanted to watch her favorite show, we had to do something. In case the reset button is not present on the Roku TV, press mute and power buttons together.

Why Would Roku TV Need Resetting?

Smart TVs are very much similar to computers, smartphones, tablets, etc. The operating system is what keeps them running. But sometimes, certain glitches can happen.

For example, like other smart TVs, Roku can also experience audio loss, video playing issues, connectivity problems, and system bugs.

Then there are these other times when the contents you are watching take longer than usual to load. When this happens, or your Roku TV simply freezes up, a simple reset will fix the issue. By resetting the TV, you can restore its functionality to its original state. However, these are not the only cases where you would want to reset the TV.

It is also done when you want to sell your TV for some reason or replace it. You also do it when you want to give it away to someone.

Factory Reset By Pressing the Reset Button

Roku Factory Reset Without Remote

Factory reset, or hard reset, is the method of restoring the device to its original system state by erasing all the information stored in the device.

What that means is that your details and viewing preferences will be altered. Also, your Roku TV will get disconnected from your Roku account.

  • You can do a factory reset in two ways.
  • You can either do it using a remote control or by locating the Reset button on your TV.
  • But since you don’t have the remote control, you may stick to the latter.
  • First things first, locate the reset button on your smart TV.
  • But before that, remove all the cables from your Roku TV except the power cord.
  • Once you have located the reset button, press and hold it for some time.
  • You may also use a pen or something of that sort if you have difficulty using your hands.
  • You may release the button when your TV’s power indicator starts blinking rapidly.

It means the reset is done, and you are good to go.

Where is the Reset Button Located on the Back of the Roku TV?

  • All Roku players come with a reset button.
  • But, in the case of the TV, it depends on the model that you are using.
  • Older versions mostly came with the reset button.
  • The reset button is located on the back of your TV near the HDMI cables on the left side or right side.
  • You need to look at both sides of the Roku TV to locate the reset button.
  • Sometimes it is also located at the bottom of your Roku device.
  • Some devices have a tactile button, while others have a pinhole button.
  • In the case of a pinhole button, you will need a paperclip or a pen to do the factory reset.

For TVs Without a Reset Button

  • In some models, the reset button may not be present.
  • In that case, you will have to resort to other methods to perform the resetting function.
  • Press the power and mute buttons simultaneously.
  • Detach the power cord while doing that and plug it back in.
  • Release them once the TV screen turns on.

Follow the instructions provided by the guide and re-enter your account information.

Reset Using the Roku Remote App

As I mentioned earlier, the remote issue can be resolved by using the Roku Remote App. Roku has its own mobile app, which you can download from the Play store or App store. An important thing to be noted is that you should connect both the remote app and TV to the same Wi-Fi network.

Then, follow the following steps to reset your TV using the mobile app.

  • Install the app on the device you want to use as a remote.
  • Pair the Roku player with the app by pressing the Controller button. Now, the app will work identically to your TV remote.
  • Select the settings button and then choose the option of the system.
  • Click on Advanced System Settings and select Factory Reset.
  • A new screen will pop up asking if you want to reset the TV; confirm that.
  • Enter the four-digit code, which is your passcode. The default code is 1234 if you haven’t changed it.
  • The resetting process should start immediately.
Roku Factory Reset

You may require extra help while resetting your TV by pressing the mute and power buttons together, since you have to unplug the power cord while doing that.

While doing the factory reset, if you cannot see the power indicator, make sure your TV is on while doing a reset. That way, you can continue pressing the reset button until the TV powers off.

It acts as an indicator that the reset is complete. You could also reset by using the Remoku.tv web app. It is used to control your Roku TV, and you can use it from your PC, Tablet, Smartphone, Mac, etc.

The resetting process is similar to that of the one using your remote.  Both Remoku.tv and Roku App give digital access to your controller. The only difference is that Roku TV and Roku app need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network while using Remoku.tv app if you are using an Ethernet cable for providing internet to your TV.

So, that’s pretty much it. So, have fun with your TV and catch up on all the shows you’ve missed.
